Reservoir Saturation Monitoring
Reservoir Saturation Monitoring
Determining hydrocarbon and water saturation behind casing plays a significant role in reservoir management. This is because saturation measurements over time are useful for tracking reservoir depletion, planning workovers, and enhanced recovery strategies as well as diagnosing production problems.
In newly drilled wells, openhole resistivity logs are run to determine water and hydrocarbon saturations. In other openhole scenarios, electro-magnetic tools are used to determine water saturation. These tools cannot be used in cased holes because the casings are electrically conductive; therefore, we have adopted the pulsed neutron technology in cased hole scenarios capable of providing formation evaluation behind casing.
Our Reservoir profiling tools and technologies include;
Effectively optimizing the exploitation of a hydrocarbon reservoir requires real time surveillance of reservoir parameters and an understanding the reservoir production. Oildata provides this comprehensive analysis using state-of-the-art reservoir saturation tool series called the PRIXM™.
Pulsed Reservoir Intelligent Saturation Monitor PRIXM™:
The PRIXM™ is engineered to detect thermal neutrons in a reservoir. This detector technology combined with unique sigma processing and imaging, quantitative hydrocarbon saturation interpretation enables accurate interpretation in low salinity and porosity formations.
Application:
The PRIXM™ is the preferred saturation monitor for:
- Monitoring gas caps
- Evaluating gas bubbles behind casing
- Determining formation gas saturations
- Analyzing formation porosity
- Monitoring hydrocarbon saturations in formations with high water salinity and high porosity
Benefits:
- The PRIXM™ is an excellent solution for old wells with little or no openhole information. It provides records of porosity, shaliness and saturation information comparable to any openhole log.
- At 12ft/min, it means that saturation logging operations using the PRIXM™ are concluded within a day. This inevitably results in huge costs savings when logging in swamp and offshore locations. Interpretation reports are also ready within 24hrs resulting in quicker decision making times. As an example, the decision to perforate new zones can be made hours after receiving the report.
- Using the PRIXM™ does not require well preparation. Irrespective of the kind of the fluid in the wellbore or whether the well is flowing or shut-in, the results remain accurate.
PRIXM-X™
The PRIXM-X™ is a hybrid PRIXM™ tool with multi-detector pulsed-neutron system for simultaneously measuring reservoir saturation using Sigma and Carbon-Oxygen techniques with a mixed firing pattern for the neutron generator.
It features three GR detectors; the near and the far detectors are high resolution Lanthanum Chloride detector for Sigma and Carbon-Oxygen and the long spacing is a Sodium Iodide detector with a spacing that is sensitive to gas and porosity. The logging program can include both Sigma and Carbon/Oxygen or water flow logging in combination with Production Logging sensors.
