Pipe Recovery
Pipe Recovery
Pipe recovery solutions are essential for the retrieval of tubing or drill pipe and packers. These solutions are also used to cut tailpipe and for special target operations like multiple strings and casing recovery operations. Oildata has performed these services in hundreds of her client wells and is able to provide the best solution for any given challenge from an extensive vein of experience and knowledge using a number of methods.
Technologies/ tools deployed for pipe recovery include;
Split Shot Cutters
With clean cutting properties, the split shot cutter allows pipe to be pulled freely without any additional drag or damage to the casing. There is no performance loss associated with running through restrictions and it can be run through spears, drill collars, packers or tubing due to its slim feature. The Split Shot Cutter’s small diameter allows it pass through scale, paraffin or any other obstruction in the pipe. All sizes of Split Shot cutters perform 99% of current conventional or non-conventional pipe recovery operations.
String Shot (Back-Off Shot):
The String Shot is used to aid back-off and jump-out of coupling. The String Shot is used to also shake off wax and scale build up in a well, it can also be used to clean tubings before setting plugs or chemical cuts and can also be used to break off a hanging tail pipe at the event of a partial cut and dislodge a stuck pipe.
Tubing Explosive Cut:
Unlike the chemical cutter, the explosive cutters can be deployed in air or gas filled wells. The charges are a variation of linear shaped charges and behave similar to perforation charges. Our explosive cutters are either segmented or continuous.
Chemical Cutter:
Oildata’s Chemical Cutter is designed to safely cut coiled tubing and tubing in existing completions with absolutely no damage to the concentric casing string. It is recommended for use to avoid cuts in jewelry (profiles, collars, subs, mandrels and other heavy body or irregular shaped components), heavier wall and higher alloy pipe when possible.
Severing Explosive Cut:
Oildata’s Drill Collar Severing Tool severs drill collars and heavyweight drill pipe reliably and safely during Pipe Recovery Operations.
Tubing Punch:
A tubing punch is necessary to create communication between the tubing and annulus in a well to equalize pressure. It is mostly used during well kill and in the event that the sliding sleeve is stuck in the closed position. It uses Controlled Penetration charges in order to prevent damage to adjacent strings.
