DESCRIPTION
The
Slickline/Coil-tubing deployed, Hydraulically Activated
Reliable Perforating system (SHARP system) is a hydraulically
fired perforating system similar to systems developed for
Tubing Conveyed guns. The system is designed to safely
detonate perforating guns (for example, Tubing Punchers for
zone switching) deployed on slickline in instances where an
Electric Line unit is not available and depth accuracy is not
absolutely critical.
FIRING PROCEDURE FOR SLICKLINE
PERFORATING SYSTEM (SHARP)
- Set a tubing plug for hydraulic isolation below the
perforation
interval
- Pressure test tubing
- Make up and Run gun to perforation depth
- At depth, pressure tubing to predetermined pressure
to shear
calibration pins
- Hydrostatic pressure acting on the piston area of the
firing
pin slams the pin down and fires the guns
- The above system can be adapted for Coiled Tubing
perforating
FIRING PROCEDURE FOR COILED TUBING PERFORATING SYSTEM (CTU-SHARP)
- Run tool to perforating depth. Steel-drop ball may be run in
place.
Tubing will fill with fluid as tool is run in hole
- At depth, pressure the tubing to approximately 2300 psi.
The
shear screw holding pump-out plug shears allowing the plug to
move down and push on the Release rod. The 1/8" diameter Brass
shear pin shears and allows the rod to move down. The steel retaining
balls can now retract thus freeing the firing pin. Hydrostatic
pressure (in excess of 400 psi) acting on the piston area of the
Firing Pin slams the pin down and fires the Hornet Detonator
